The BMW i range of cars gives drivers the best of both worlds – lower running costs and high-quality motoring. Its electric motors produce powerful torque and extensive range, which has improved over the past few years.
Its first model to the market, the BMW i3, now has a 120 Ah battery that provides up to 190 miles, making it a great car for city driving. The i4, the brand’s all-electric 4 Series Gran Coupe, again has an impressive range with up to 365 miles between charges. Going even further, the BMW iX and the i7 also reach range figures of around 380 miles.
With BMW’s plans to introduce more electric models over the next decade, this technology is entering an exciting stage of development to marry efficiency, performance and driveability.

BMW i Practicality and Running Costs
Whether you’re looking for a compact city run-around or a comfortable family SUV, the BMW i range has a model perfect for your lifestyle.
One of its smaller electric cars in the range, the i3 is a great compact ride with luxury touches. It’s pretty spacious for its size, and the boot space is 260 litres – enough for shopping trips and a few suitcases.
If you’re looking for more room, then the iX is sure to tick the boxes for practicality. This is the brand’s largest EV model and has ample room for the whole family with 500 litres of boot space.
Other models in the BMW i range, such as the iX3, i4, i7 and iX1, also provide a spacious and comfortable ride depending on the body style you prefer.
Over the range, running costs come in favourably due to the impressive range of each car. With a range between 190 and 380 miles, you’ll typically find recharging costs less than filling up a tank of fuel.

BMW i Interior, Technology and Safety
