Read on for more information or browse our Used BMW 6 Series listings above and find out what makes this marque one of the best in the world. As expert BMW retailers, we only source the very best models on the market, thoroughly checking each and every vehicle for your peace of mind. After all, we want you to drive away safe and happy.

    • BMW Engine Information

Built to impress, the BMW 6 Series launched in style over three decades ago and became known as one of the fastest four-seat coupes around. State-of-the-art engine updates have followed since with no 6 Series being short of power - the opposite, in fact.

Engine options include a 3-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine producing 320 bhp, with M version sports cars offering a 4.4 litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology for superior performance. There’s also a 4-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine with 309 bhp.

    • BMW Practicality and Running Costs

Luxurious and practical, the BMW 6 Series is on par with its coupe rivals when it comes to space and practicality. The boot is surprisingly spacious, at 460-litres, but note that unlike the Grand Coupe model, the seats in the standard coupe do not fold flat.

As for interior space, the length of the BMW 6 Series means all passengers can sit in comfort. There is typically more space upfront than in the rear and with the coupe’s 2x2 dimensions, the interior has room for four people only.

With regards to running costs, this all depends on the trim you choose with the 3-litre diesel 640d offering the best fuel economy at 52.3mpg. Emissions are also relatively low at 143 g/km meaning road tax isn’t through the roof. But emissions do go up to 147 g/km for M Sport models with larger alloy wheels.

    • BMW Interior, Technology and Safety

Step inside the BMW 6 Series and discover a premium environment that’s been designed to enhance both driver and passenger comfort. Spacious, well-organised and packed with technology, the cabin certainly showcases the meticulous nature of BMW manufacturing.

With high-spec models including heated leather seats, adjustable lumbar support, two-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors and full colour satellite-navigation, you can sit back and relax in style. Select the M Sport upgrade for additional M styling tweaks inside and out as well as an upgraded stereo system.

    • BMW History

Made as a large coupe with grand-tourer inspiration, the BMW 6 Series launched in 1976 setting the bar high for luxury travel. The 6 Series became renowned for its rapid acceleration, dynamic lines and handsome shark-nosed profile. The BMW 365 CSI was the most powerful version of the first generation of the 6 Series.

Designed under the Chris Bangle era, the second generation of the 6 Series was unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show with the big, wide grille being one of the vehicle’s features. Engine options include the 3.0-litre up to the mighty 5.0-litre V10 installed on the M6. The BMW 6 Series Convertible also added variety to the range, offering motorists an exciting open-air driving experience as well as first-class aesthetics.

In 2007, BMW introduced a mid-life cycle improvement model for the 6-Series which included several interior and exterior modifications as well as two completely new engines - a 3-litre turbo diesel badged as a 636d and another 3.0-litre gasoline engine for the 630i.

BMW introduced the third generation of the 6 Series in 2011 as a coupe and, in the following year, as a four-door coupe named Gran Coupe.

    • When buying a used BMW 6 Series vehicle, it’s important to carry out thorough checks and to source the vehicle’s servicing and ownership history. Other specifics to check during an inspection and test drive include the power steering. Common problems include leaking or a lack of oil, knocking from steering, loss of power while idling and revving and excessive play in the steering wheel. If in doubt, consult a specialist BMW-trained mechanic.

You should also inspect the locks to check they work, the windows and all general controls as well as tyre condition. Keep a lookout for any accidental damage or signs of rigorous driving from a previous owner that might impact performance and your experience with the vehicle.

While buying a pre-loved car might seem daunting, we’re here to help. With our Approved Used Guarantee, all BMW 6 Series models available have undergone rigorous checks to ensure reliability and service history.

BMW 6 Series cars to choose from

With multiple models available as part of the BMW 6 Series, you can enjoy optimum choice. Check out the key features of each vehicle and find something to suit your personality and style.

      BMW 6 Series 630

As a smart, sophisticated, practical coupe with a good sized boot, BMW 630 variations offer premium travel every day of the week. Light and nimble despite its size, this car is a punchy performer with accessible controls, finely-tuned suspension and light handling. Top spec models come with a colour sat-nav, with all systems controlled via iDrive.

      BMW 6 Series 640

Whether you opt for the 640i Gran Coupe or the 640d Convertible, you can enjoy a sharp, responsive and comfortable ride. With fully independent suspension, real-wheel drive and power steering, taking full command of the road has never been easier.

      BMW 6 Series 650i v8

The BMW 650i Convertible, 650i Coupe and 650i Gran Coupe feature a more powerful twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4.4-litre V8 in 650i models produces 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Peak torque is available from 1750 to 4500 rpm.

      BMW 6 Series M Sport

Go the extra mile with the M Sport package. This features M exterior and interior styling, LED foglights, 19-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, M badging and leather detailing. A performance-orientated touch includes the M Sport suspension. This lowers the car between 10mm and 20mm and offers a much more comfortable ride even at high speeds.

      BMW 6 Series MHT

Enjoy an efficient ride with Mild Hybrid Technology. A BMW fitted with MHT has both a petrol or diesel engine and a 48-volt battery, used as a generator instead of the more traditional starter motor. This doesn’t generate enough electricity to power the vehicle by itself as with a fully electric car, but the battery will help to improve overall fuel economy.

      BMW 6 Series Sport

When you opt for the 6 Series Sport models, you can automatically expect an added dash of excitement, with sports seats, bigger tyres, leather interiors and advanced technology being commonplace across the range.
